German and Japanese scissors can be compared based on Steel & Blade Edges. Both were using the steel alloys in 18th and 19th Century with different steel composition. German steel was very popular and 90 % of the hair stylist in Europe prefer to use these shears. But with the passage of time, new developments in steel, cutting styles and technics (Wet cut and Dry cut) German scissors start getting blurred in the history.

Vidal Sassoon is one of the first hairdressers in the world to recognize Japanese hairdressing scissors as real jewels for hairdressers. He developed new innovative cutting techniques with the performance of his Japenese scissor's convex blades. Many hairdressers only use Japanese blades to perfectly control their cuts.

There are three different Edge types: Convex, Bevel, Semi Convex.

German scissors were bevel edged and has an angle of 45 -63 degrees where as Japanese scissors with convex edge has an angle of 35- 42 degrees. The cutting edge of the Japanese scissors is simply stunning. Very few German scissors equal the real Japanese hairdressing scissor's convex blades. That is the main edge of japanese manufacturing techniques.

Below you can find the picture of one hair strand Cut with Convex edge(above - where the hair got really less damage & will grow more smooth naturally) and bevel edge (down - being less sharp damages the hair while cutting, eventually hair gets broken easily and need special treatments to get its natural looks back ) to show you the difference.

İn the market you can find many colorful scissors with new designs but when we talk about Japanese scissors, since many years Cutting performance was the main criteria in developing these high-end scissors, design was almost not taken into account much.

Today with Kensai we carry the soul of japanese Craftsmanship with the Ergonomics and Design to keep Hair Dressers upto date so they can live the real themselve without any hurdles in performance, blended with their characters.
